HISTORY
Unique Clamps trust was established in 1995 as a small business
manufacturing lacing clamps for the gold and platinum mining
industries. A business was bought over with equipment /
machinery together with a patent for the hewitt lacing clamp.
This clamp is particular as it uses one nut only to tighten the
clamp. Gradually this business was expanded into various other
products such as winch brackets, winch foundation bolts, square
washes, sheperd crooks/grouting rods, pinch bars, general
threading of round bar, special bolts etc.
In 1999 we acquired the equipment of East Rand Engineering who
were manufacturers of ventilation ducting. The equipment was
moved to our current premises where we erected another two
workshops of approximately 4000m2. The size of the total current
buildings are approximately 6000m2 undercover.
Since the establishment of the ventilation ducting business we
have successfully negotiated contracts with various mines in the
gold/platinum/coal and diamond industries. We have also
registered a new company called Vent & Support Africa which will
be operational in January 2011 and will operate in the
Rustenburg and North West province to supply the platinum
industry. It is envisaged and planned to open an operation in
carltonville by the end of 2011.
In 2005 we recognised the BEE requirements laid down by
government and a new company Unique Clamps Engineering &
Ventilation (Pty) Ltd was established. All suppliers are
currently done under this company and our accreditation
includes BBBEE, level 2 contributor.
